The best thesis on the Exchange or on archaeological tourism in memory of Antonella Fiammenghi
The “Antonella Fiammenghi” Award is assigned to the college student who wrote, from 2021 to 2023, the best thesis on the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism” or archaeological tourism.
It has been established in 2007 from the 10th edition in memory of the Director of the Archaeological Area of Velia Antonella Fiammenghi, passed away in the same year, and it wants to be a tribute to graduates who disclose the archaeological tourism hrough their university commitment.
The winner will be a guest of the Exchange at the hotel on the night of Thursday, November 2nd.
The Award will be conferred on Friday, November 3 at 11 am at the Basilica (adjacent to the National Museum).
The winning thesis will be published thanks to AMG Press, publisher of the monthly magazine “ArcheoNews”.
The 2023 Prize is awarded to Andrea Berettera, graduate of the Master of Science in Archaeological Sciences of the University of Padua for his thesis in “Archaeological virtual tours: overview and case studies of an instrument that changed the way of approaching archaeology”.
The Winning Thesis will be published thanks to AMG Press, editor of the monthly “ArcheoNews”.

In 2021 to: Saverio Macaluso, graduate of the Degree Course in Archaeology and Cultures of the ancient world of the University of Bologna for the thesis “Una forma di comunicazione: il turismo archeologico. Una nuova professione e nuove prospettive”.
A special mention with the assigned of a plate has been recognized to: Marta Fancello, graduate of the Degree Course in Sciences of cultural heritage in Scienze of the University of Sassari for the thesis “La sponsorizzazione culturale in Italia: Il Colosseo e Pompei, due casi a confronto”; Grazia Viciconte, graduate of the Degree Course of the Department of the Architecture of the University of Firenze for the thesis “Paestum. Valorizzazione del Parco Archeologico e Recupero dell’ex Stabilimento Cirio”; Filomena Volpe, graduate of the Degree Course in Humanities of the University of Salerno for the thesis “Viaggiatori francesi a Paestum tra Settecento e Ottocento”.
In 2019 to: Martina De Giuseppe, graduate of the Degree Course in Archeology of Sapienza University of Rome for the degree thesis “Archeologia Pubblica: percorsi di musealizzazione e fruizione delle aree archeologiche”.
In 2018 to: Alessia D’Onofrio, graduate of the MA Course in Archeology and Methodology of Historical – Archaeological Research of the University of Rome Tre for the thesis “Il Patrimonio Culturale Sommerso come espressione della Cultura Universale. Analisi dei ritrovamenti archeologici nelle aree marine protette italiane”.
In 2017 to: Chiara Vitaloni, graduate of the MA in Quaternary, Prehistory and Archaeology of the University of Ferrara for the thesis “Nuovi sviluppi dell’archeologia computazionale finalizzati alla programmazione di un’applicazione Android per scopi divulgativi”.
In 2016 to: Gennaro Borrelli, graduate of the MA in Intercultural Bioethics at Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale” for the thesis “Empowerment ed economia sociale nella valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale. Il caso Pompei”; Michela Filetti, BA in Tourism Studies and Local Community at Università degli Studi di Milano – Bicocca for the thesis “L’archeologia in mostra: tre esposizioni temporanee a confronto nell’era digitale”; Davide Pecoraro, BA in Architectural and City Sciences at Sapienza Universita’ di Roma for the thesis “Musealizzazione del santuario di Santa Venera a Paestum”.
