As part of the 1st Mediterranean Conference of Underwater Archaeological Tourism, an Award in memory of “Claudio Mocchegiani Carpano” will be assigned to university students, who have completed the best thesis on underwater archeology or underwater archaeological tourism, in favor of protection, enhancement and development of the destinations in which the sites exist.

The Award commemorates Claudio Mocchegiani Carpano, dean of underwater archeology for his researches on Italian lakes, rivers and seas and creator in 1986 of the STAS Technical Service for Underwater Archeology (Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities).

Furthermore, in collaboration with the monthly ArcheoNews, the winning thesis will be published by AMG Press.
