The Plaque in memory of Claudio Mocchegiani Carpanois the recognition reserved to university students, who have completed, from 2021 to 2023, the best thesis on underwater archeology: research, excavation, restoration, study, history, methodologies, protection, enhancement and underwater archaeological tourism.

The Plaque has been established in 2021 from the 23rd edition of the Exchange in memory di Claudio Mocchegiani Carpano, considered the dean of contemporary underwater archeology for his researches on Italian lakes, rivers and seas and creator in 1986 of the STAS Technical Service for Underwater Archeology of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities.

Graduates interested in applying must send a copy of the thesis in PDF to the e-mail info@bmta.it or on paper to Leader srl via Roma, 226 – 84121 Salerno by September 30th, 2023.

The selection of the first classified will be communicated within 30 days of the deadline and the winner will be a guest in the hotel paid by the Exchange on the night of Friday, November 3rd.

The Plaque will be awarded on Saturday, November 4th at 10.00 at NEXT former Cafasso Tobacco Factory on the occasion of  the Sebastiano TusaAward.

The winning thesis will be published thanks to AMG Press, editor of the monthly “ArcheoNews”.

In 2022 the Plaque has been assigned to: Lucrezia Maghet, graduate of the Degree Course in Cultural Heritage of the University of Udine for the thesis “L’archeologia subacquea sul web: raccolta, analisi e lettura critica dell’offerta disponibile in rete”.

In 2021 to: Stefano Vitiello, graduate of the Degree Course in Archaeology: East and West of the University of Naples “L’Orientale” for the thesis “Indagini, rilievi e ipotesi sulla peschiera romana sommersa di Villa Accetta a Gaeta”.
