{"id":24926,"date":"2018-05-08T11:17:39","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T09:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.borsaturismoarcheologico.it\/final-report-2017\/"},"modified":"2018-05-08T11:17:39","modified_gmt":"2018-05-08T10:17:39","slug":"final-report-2017","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.borsaturismoarcheologico.it\/ar\/final-report-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Final Report 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The XX edition of the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism has just ended: a final assessment and our goodbye to the XXI edition, from October 25 to 28, 2018<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>From Thursday, October 26 to Sunday, October 29, 2017, the 20th Anniversary of the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism took place<\/strong>: the Archaeological Park (Exhibition Hall, ArchaeoExperience, ArchaeoMeetings), the National Archaeological Museum (ArchaeoVirtual, Conferences, Workshop with foreign buyers) and the Paleochristian Basilica (Conferences, Award Ceremonies, ArchaeoWorking, Meet the Protagonists) werw the suggestive locations of the Exchange.<br \/>\nBMTA, promoted and supported by <strong>Campania Region, the City of Capaccio Paestum, the Archaeological Park of Paestum<\/strong>, designed and organized by <strong>Leader srl with the direction of Ugo Picarelli<\/strong>, confirms itself as an unique event: place for the study and debate on cultural heritage and tourism issues; meeting place for professional business, touristic, cultural operators, travellers and amateurs; a successfull format as shown by many prestigious collaborations with international bodies such as <strong>UNESCO<\/strong> and <strong>UNWTO<\/strong> (the United Nations of Culture and Tourism) and the <strong>precious and significative support of MiBACT the Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The XXI edition of the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism will take place from Thursday, October 25 to Sunday, October 28, 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>THE NUMBERS OF 2017 EDITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>More than 12.000 visitors upheld the success of the XX Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The only world <strong>Exhibition Hall<\/strong> on archaeological tourism, of about <strong>2.500 square meters<\/strong>, hosted <strong>120 exhibitors<\/strong> from <strong>14 Italian regions <\/strong>(Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Lazio, Lombardia, Marche, Piemonte, Sardegna, Sicilia, Toscana, Umbria)\u00a0 and <strong>25 foreign countries<\/strong> (from Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe, Middle East) representing 4 continents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>20 tour operators selected by ENIT, from 8 countries, <\/strong>participated<strong> in the Workshop with foreign buyers, and met 200 operators of the tourism offer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The rich programme, divided into <strong>12 Sections<\/strong>, counted <strong>70 events with 400 speakers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The media coverage was ample, with the presence of about <strong>100 journalists<\/strong>, press reports on\u00a0 <strong>RaiUno \u201cLa Vita in diretta\u201d<\/strong>, <strong>Tg2, Tg2 Storie, RaiTre Tgr Mezzogiorno Italia<\/strong>, <strong>Tgr regionali, RaiScuola<\/strong>, <strong>RaiStoria,<\/strong> <strong>RadioRai Gr1 e Gr3, Radio24, Canale 8<\/strong><strong> a<\/strong>nd with broad press review from main newspapers and specialized press.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>5.000 students<\/strong>, representing <strong>75 High Schools<\/strong> from different Italian regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Lazio, Puglia), escorted by about <strong>350 teachers<\/strong>, participated in the activities planned for them (ArcheoExperience and ArcheoWorking).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The online audience had the opportunity to follow the <strong>streaming live broadcasting<\/strong> of <strong>12 events<\/strong> of the programme (for a total amount of <strong>20 hours<\/strong> of transmission), <strong>on the website and on the Facebook page<\/strong> of the Exchange, still available in a playlist with more than 8.550 total views on Facebook. The most followed events have been the Conference on \u201cPreservation of cultural heritage, the defence of art and the role of intelligence\u201d (2.797 views) and the \u201cInternational Archaeological Discovery Award Khaled al-Asaad\u201d (1.517 views).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For the first time, the official website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bmta.it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">www.bmta.it<\/a><\/strong><strong> has been translated in Arabic too<\/strong>: up to October 31 almost <strong>40.000 accesses have been recorded, with an increase of more than 30%<\/strong> from last edition and 100.000 visited pages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the event the Facebook page of the Exchange reached more than 18.000 likes, and, only in October, almost 20.000 people interacted on the page<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The hashtag #BMTA2017 trended on Twitter during the four days of the event, <\/strong>assessing in the first 40 results of the Italian trend topics for the whole day, getting its best result on Friday, October 27, when it reached the 16th position. <strong>\u201cSustainable tourism for the development of world archaeological sites<\/strong>\u201d by UNWTO (World Tourism Organisation): <strong>Taleb Rifai<\/strong>, Secretary General of\u00a0Unwto, wanted to recognize the 20th Anniversary planning a conference on sustainable tourism as instrument for the preservation and promotion of archaeological sites, <strong>during the \u201cInternational Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development\u201d declared by ONU for 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The coutries present were Cambodia, Ethiopia, Jordan, Italy and Peru, representing prestigious sites (among them, Machu Picchu, Pompeii, Petra, Aksum and Tiya, Angkor Wat), the best expression of the potentialities of archaeological heritage for local development and employment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the end of the panel, <strong>Taleb Rifai <\/strong>awarded the Founder and Director of the Exchange <strong>Ugo Picarelli<\/strong> a special recognition from World Tourism Organisation<strong>, <\/strong>with this motivation: \u201cIn recognition of the significant contribution to the sustainable development of archaeological and cultural tourism and his outstanding vision and committment<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>The \u201cSistema UNESCO della Campania\u201d <strong>International Archaeological Discovery Award \u201cKhaled al-Asaad\u201d to the most important archaeological discovery of 2016, <\/strong><strong>devoted to the Director of the archaeologist\u00a0 area and museum of Palmyra, <\/strong><strong>from<\/strong> <strong>1963 to 2003<\/strong><strong>, who paid with his life the defence of cultural heritage, at the presence of his Moreover, the General Direction for Tourism wanted to give room to the territories hit by 2016 earthquake (Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, Umbria) with a space of 36 square meters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Island of Ischia<\/strong>, recently hit by an earthquake this August, was present with all its City Administrations: Barano, Casamicciola Terme, Forio, Ischia, Lacco Ameno, Serrara Fontana<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thanks to a close collaboration with Italian regions, many of them have been present: <strong>Basilicata<\/strong> (APT Agenzia Promozione Territoriale), <strong>Calabria<\/strong>, <strong>Campania<\/strong>, <strong>Emilia Romagna<\/strong> (present for the first time with APT Servizi), <strong>Friuli Venezia Giulia<\/strong> (PromoTurismoFVG and Fondazione Aquileia), <strong>Lazio<\/strong> (Agenzia Regionale per il Turismo), <strong>Piemonte <\/strong>(Segretariato Regionale MiBACT), <strong>Sicilia<\/strong>, <strong>Toscana<\/strong> (Agenzia Regionale Toscana Promozione Turistica).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among the exhibitors also the <strong>Progetto IN.ITINERE <\/strong>was present: an interregional initiative of quality tourism promoted by <strong>Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, Toscana and Umbria <\/strong>which aims to valorise and promote common elements of the territories of Central Italy (historic, landscape, productive, social and cultural heritage)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Various <strong>Archaeological Parks <\/strong>have also been present:<strong> Phlegraean Fields, Ercolano, Naxos Taormina, Valley of the Temples in Agrigento<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Among the foreign countries, Ethiopia, Mongolia, San Marino and South Africa participated for the first time, along with a wide representation of the Balcan area with Albania, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia, along with the Chamber of Commerci of Izmir \u2013 Turkey, the Krasen Kras Museum \u2013 Slovenia and Burnum and National Park of Krka \u2013 Croatia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Guided tours<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Exchange organised a programme of guided tours for speakers, journalists and visitors:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;
